My hope is that it will feel like talking to a good friend who knows you well and cares for your wellbeing, but who is also going to give it to you straight and give you feedback when asked.
The perk of therapy is it’s a relationship without all the same day-to-day social expectations. For instance, a counseling session is focused on you and your needs, so there isn’t the same pressure to be “pulled together” or to consider how this might affect your therapist’s day, for instance. You can take a break from all those norms and expectations and just be you!
If you want to get a feel for this, check out my About Me.

It is so important to consider your identities and the identities of your therapist, because folks will often find that work with a therapist who shares similar identities can be invaluable.
That said, if you choose to work with me, you can be assured that race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, and other identities will be brought out into the open. It is my goal to be as helpful to you as I possibly can, but I also know that there may be times when I, as a cis straight white woman, cannot fully appreciate or understand your experience. I will do my very best to be informed, self-aware, and humble as we navigate the unique (and systemic) challenges you face. If you’d like to discuss further, let’s schedule a consultation!

I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, United/Optum, Midlands Choice, Aetna, and Cigna.
Start by calling the number on the back of your insurance card (or sign into your healthcare portal, if you have one) to clarify what you behavioral health benefits are. They will explain to you what percent of services are covered, any limitations to your coverage, and where you are at with your deductible for the year.
If I am out-of-network (meaning, I don’t take your specific insurance), we can still work together as private pay and I can provide you with a bill to submit to your insurance - this would the go towards your “out-of-network” deductible.
It can be a bit confusing - your insurance company and myself are here to help you navigate it.

Teletherapy sessions are conducted securely and confidentially through a HIPAA-compliant platform. We will always use video, so it can feel very much like we are together in the same space. There are lots of obvious benefits to telehealth, such as being able to jump on at the last minute, having the flexibility to join during your work day, or just wanting to stay in your sweats for your appointment. Strong therapeutic relationships can be built over telehealth, and there is a significant amount of research to support this.

Therapy sessions typically last 45-55 minutes, but session length can be adjusted based on your preferences and therapeutic needs.
As for the frequency of therapy sessions, it depends on your unique situation and treatment goals. We can discuss this together and tailor a schedule that works best for you.
The duration of therapy treatment varies for each individual and depends on factors such as the nature of the issues being addressed and the progress you feel you are making. We'll regularly review your goals and progress to ensure that therapy remains effective and beneficial.

My hope is that I will have built a foundation of trust so that you can feel safe telling me that something isn’t working. If it is something I can adjust or improve upon in our sessions, I will seek to do so! But also, if it just isn’t feeling like a good fit, that is entirely ok. You will not hurt my feelings! This is your care, and your needs and preferences matter the most. And if you need, I would be more than happy to help you find anther therapist who can better meet you needs.

In short, no - I do not provide counseling specifically for spiritual or religious issues. However, this does not mean we cannot explore this in counseling; what it does mean is, I will take your lead.
I have a lot of experience working with folks from Christian and Catholic backgrounds. For some clients we have discussed the ways faith/spirituality has been helpful, and for others, with different experiences, we have explored the ways their faith tradition has been unhelpful.
